How heavy are your race cars? (archive)

I just started to strip my 86 325 into a hillclimb/autocrosser today and drove it to the weigh station for a before weight figure and it weighed 2680lbs. with a quarter tank of gas and no one in it. Complete with A/C, full trunk goodies, spare, etc. I stripped out the trunk and rear seats today and the back of the car is at least 2" higher than before. Some of the material in the trunk floor was unbelievably heavy. Did the car need that much rear weight for handling or was the factory generous with sound deadening? I am hoping for 2400 lbs. with the roll cage in it. O==00==O
