If it has a power top, make sure the top goes up/down properly. There is a rod on the passengers side under the boot lid cover that controls the top to retract (prone to snapping). When we bought our 92 E30 325iC, 3 days later this rod snapped! (about $50 from the dealer, & easy to install). As far as the engine, make sure timing belt/ water pump have been changed as w/ all E30's (very bullet-proof motor). As far as the 92 E30 325iC having shoddy interiors?? I think 92 is one of the best years to have beacuse of having the power-top option, smaller plastic bumpers (not aluminum diving boards), nice sport interior, Drivers side airbag, etc.. I MUCH rather prefer the E30 chassis than the "bland" E36. "Long Live The E30..."
Just my .02 cents- HtH,
