If the heater isnt slowing the overheating or stopping it then your theromstat or the water pump isn't allowing coolant to circulate.

Have them check and make sure the water is flowing and there arent any air bubbles in the system.

by passed the heater matrix and the engine stays cool once again. hooray!! how big a job is it to replace??
