Your oil pickup tube probobly got gloged after flushing the engine. Take your oil pan off and clean it.

Just want to say thanks in advance for any help I receive. My '91 318iS was leaking oil bad, but never dropped to a low level. I always made sure it was filled to the proper level. I tightened down a bolt on the pan, and it stopped the leak like a charm. However, now the valves are clanking. I flushed the engine to get my synthetic motor oil out, did a complete change back to regular oil (10w-40). The clanking initially dissipated, but after 15 minutes of driving, it is back. Now the engine reaches a higher temperature than normal, almost to the point of overheating. Any suggestions!? I am lost. Why would tightening a bolt cause the valves to rattle. It is as if the lifters are being starved of oil. Also, when i first turn the car on, the oil light remains on for 1-2 seconds, then goes off. Do I have an oil pressure problem or what?! Any help is greatly appreciated! TIA!
Matt
