That car is equipped with the EWS driveaway protection system. It CANNOT be started without the correct key. The control unit will not energize any ignition electronics until it has a match to the last code generated by its matching key cut and code. BTW.. the code changes everytime the key is set into the locks. The moral of this story boys ang girls......NO KEY = NO START. Hope this helps ya.


Police are investigating a possible stolen 1998 328si. We are trying to determine if it is possible to start this model of BMW with a key or significant damage to the igntion system to bypass the anti-theft devices
