1) remove the 2 small coolant lines from the throttle body and loop them together (using a small piece of metal hose and some hose clamps)
2) get a new gasket (around $3-4 max) and replace the gasket, you'll need some small "torx" bits to get the housing off and lots of patience as this is a tight area.
Seems that BMW decided to run coolant thru the throttle body for 2 reasons, first is to speed warm-up's which lowers emissions, second is to prevent icing of the throttle body in cold (very-cold) temps.
Good Luck, Bret.
I have found a coolant leak from a gasket within a housing, located just in front of the air intake, where it comes together under the throttle linkage. Does anyone know what this is called? I have never seen antifreeze this high over the engine. What does this part do, and what is it cooling? There looks like one hose coming in and two hoses leaving. Thanks in advance for helping me with this problem and letting me know if i'm in any trouble.
