Could be the carrier mounts. They should also clunk when you accelerate or brake. Sounds the same as a lot of play in a driveshaft or something.


I have a klunk when I hit a bump in the left rear. I checked every bushing, every mount, 185K and all are good, the shock is new and it's mount -I tightened down the spare tire and the convertible trunk lid is tight, so what is still going klunk when I hit a bump back there? New springs,new muffler mount system. Is the axle carier mounted with rubber bushings and does it get sloppy? Thanks for any insight.
