Cold Start problems:
1) if your idle control valve is not opening/staying open for a while at cold start, then there is basically no way for air to get to the engine (past the closed throttle).
2) If your temp sensor is not working properly then the IC module is not getting correct reading on engine temp and unable to properly increase pulse time to fuel injectors.
3) Temp/Time switch not closing circuit to Cold Start Valve and/or defective cold start valve. This is the blue valve that injects fuel directly into the intake manifold to enrich mixture on cold startup (remember, no choke on fuel injected engines to enrich fuel/air mixture).
4) Defective IC module.
5) VAC or air leaks can cause this; but usually if you have this type of problem, you'll notice it a poor engine performance at any (normal) operating temp also.
Do read your bentley and follow troubleshooting procedure....these cars are pretty simple and if you follow methodically you'll find the problem without much trouble; just take you time and follow steps in deliberate manner.
