I tried this and the "brake Lining light will not go off!
The brake sensors themselves are part of a "normally open" electrical circuit---i.e., if the circuit is open, no electricity flows and the lamp in you instr. cluster is not lit.
By "shorting" the circuit at the sensors you will effectivly close the circuit and the lamp will stay lit.
I take it your "problem" is that the lamp will not go out. So, assuming the brakes themselves are in good shape (sufficient thickness on pads) and the sensor are working properly; and the lamp is still staying lit....it is likely the problem is in either the wiring or on the main PCB inside the instr. console.
Check you brake pads for thickness/wear.
Unplug the brakes sensors and turn on the car; if the lamp goes out---(as it should) then problem liees in bad sensor. If lamp stays lit; problem is as stated above.
Sensor are cheap---like $6.00 or so. I'd keep them on the car; if not, and you run low on pad you run the risk of trashing the rotors.
