How hard to swap engines from M42->M42 ? (archive)

I'm trying to aquire a low mileage engine with my low budget :-/
if i end making a deal i was wondering:
How hard would it be to do a straight engine trade on my car,, everything from a 92 318ic should be the same as my 91 318is....right? how long should this take.. i'm a descent shade tree mechanic (dam walnut trees are FS*^&$*$G my paint job -> anyways) i've rebuilt the transfer case of my wrangler, i've intalled headers etc etc etc... how arduos of a task would this be?? do i have to pull the tranny out too? or can i unbolt my gearbox and leave it in the car... ? anyone with any info would be greatly appreciated. andy.. have you done this on your 325? i could end up making a go kart out of my current engine :o)
