I. Is there any necessary or recommended procedure for priming the pump or clearing air locks (excuse my diesel experience based concerns)?

II. Somewhere, here or on the SAAB or Audi sites, I saw something about the advisability of removing some sort of unnecessary noise or pulsation damper from the injection unit, but that post seemed to be refering to something located up on the motor (diligent searching has failed to recover the reference). This is not that "Pulse Damper" which is built into the fuel pump itself, is it? I'm about to rebuild my son's pump with a kit, and its instructions assume that you just use the old pulse damper as is.
