car "rocking"????? HELP! (archive)

i had a minor hiccup with my '83 232i this week when for no apparent reason after i started my car at a friends house it started to jerk back and forth as i left the clutch in first.I first thought i was running out of fuel (faulty gauge) but that wasnt the case.I drove a few metres andit was just jerking so i just revved the car to see what would happen.It dies once.Then I let the car rest for like 10 mins then restarted it and it was fine.I accelerated and flew juts dont know what may have caused this.I am suspecting clogged injectors or fuel filter coz they havnt been replaced since i got my car almost a year ago.What do u think?
Its the first time this has happened to me.
Any advice is appreciated.
