yet another problem. 1989 3.25is (archive)

i'm starting to thing BMW's are over-rated. Had it less than a month and have had it in the shop 5 times. let's see first there was the leak, then the rattling (catalitic converter), then the belt snapped off, stopped pumping water and cracked radiator (new belt, radiator), then it's leaking again, then the car just plane wouldn't start (oil pump) and now i've noticed there's a chord hanging from underneath the car. Right around the driver's side. There's a plug at the end (3 prongs)...car seems to be running okay but i'm being haunted by that voice in my head who tells me "it's gotta plug into something...right??".

A friend said maybe block heater? car fax history says its from Illinois. I'm in Los Angeles. Any ideas?

I really wanna love it, really I do.
