Help! Alternator whine giving me fits! (archive)

(Also need to know how to remove passenger seat...)

Has anybody got any tips for eliminating alternator whine? When I originally got my stereo installed, the ghetto store used speaker wires with RCAs on the ends because they wouldn't use my previous high-grade cables because they would void the install guarantee. Those had whine and the store sold me a noise filter which has since broke - and it also restricted the output of the amp.

I installed my old cables and of course they're 2 feet short. THe thing is i installed them along the passenger side. I'm sure if I install them down the middle of the car they'd be the right length.

Any advice would e greatly appreciated - I think I've lost hair in the process... ;)
