: I checked out Autotrader online for the SF Bay Area ....and found three 88 M3s there. The Kelley Blue book had the second one listed below at $10.4K Retail and $5.4K wholesale. Here is what I know:

: 1) 88 BMW M3 - 71K miles (Red/Black interior) - $12K
: 2) 88 BMW M3 - 129K miles (Black/Red interior) - $9.5K
: 3) 88 BMW M3 - ? miles (White/Black interior) - $12K

: I think the first one might be worth looking at but
: they all seem too expensive. Any thoughts? How about offering the first one $10K??? What were the standard options that the 88 M3s had (sunroof? anything else?). BTW, the #1 M3 has E36 M3 wheels on it.

: Thanks for the help. This is for a project/track car for me.

That first M3 has low mileage, and depending on condition is reasonably priced at 12K. I doubt they will go any lower, especially since it has E36 M3 wheels. The second M3 sounds reasonable starting off at 9.5K gives you room to negotiate and make it real affordable. The third M3 didn't have the mileage listed so I have no comment on that. I suggest being patient and keeping an eye out for a good deal to pop up then you can be the first to jump on the deal and make an offer.
