:If the chain breaks, which I don't know why or how this would happen, the valves would definately contact the pistons, I did the head on my car, the PO over heated it, there were contact marks on the pistons probably from the other PO having over revved it, this also can happen on a missed down shift. Contact of fast moving metallic parts is usually not reccommended, unless your driving a rental! STEVE

If the timing chains on the E30 M3 engine break, do the valves bend?
