My personal perfect M3 project would start from an engineless M3 for no more than $4000 (everything else should be in perfect condition). Then I would top it off with a US E36 M3 engine and tranny, another $4000. What you end up is a car with a perfect balance, a torquey engine that doesn’t require to be shifted every 10 seconds, and reliablity. According to Pete McHenri, it takes no more than a day to swap. Hmmm.
