: i have a question regarding purchasing another car. i have an 89 m3 and would like to put as few miles on it as possible simply because i love it and want it to last forever. i was wondering, i am looking for a daily driver to have in addition to my m3 and was wondering what a viable alternative would be. driving excitement should be considered, so should practicality. i my m fulfills all of these standards, but i don't want to drive it every day (track and canyon carving only). i was thinking of a 914 2.0 liter, or an alfa romeo gtv6, maybe even a 2002. anything european. or should i just get another e30 m3 and have one for track use and another for daily use?

I use my M535i on a daily basis. I can think of few cars which are as cheap to buy and run (cheap parts and if you're gentle will give near 30 mpg)but offer this kind of performance.
I wouldn't get a 2002 as a daily driver if you have to do a significant mileage. I love them but we're talking about 30 year old technology.
The Alfa wouldn't even come into my equation - where I live (West coast of Scotland!) the thing would fall apart in about 2 weeks !!!

Oh and by the way , I wouldn't get a Saab either.
Why? because basically they're shit! I know - we just sold our 9000 CD Turbo (thank god!)Fast? yes.
Just don't try going round bends in one. Fast bus!
Nice seats though!

Good luck
