: : my 89 seems to be squatting in the back. when parked on level ground, the back sits noticeably lower than the front. i have nothing in the trunk except the spare and a tool kit- which i know couldn't make the car sit like this. i was planning on doing a suspension job with H&R springs and Bilstein sport shocks. however, before i did anything i was wondering if anybody else had this problem and how they fixed it. thanks.

: Just guessing, but your rear shocks may be gone. Upgrading them will be a good move IMO, I do hope you enjoy the Bilsteins. I certainly do.

If you're sitting lower and the shocks and springs are fine then the problem is most likely the rear suspension cradle. Older, high mileage, BMWs will often "squat" in the back when the cradle has been bent upwards due to fatigue or abuse. The only fix is to replace.
