That was the Formula 1 engine that BMW used in the early 80's. Nelson Piquet won the championship with that engine.

And I agree, stuffing an E36 motor in an E30 M3 just dilutes its motorsport breed. You're going to have to modify the suspension to compensate for the weight of the motor or else you're going to have an understeering monster in your hands. That compared to a well balanced car that it already is.
