: Hello Guys,
: This is the first time I write to this particular board, but I need your help. I used to own a 96' M3, but I had to sell it just last month. Now being M3less, I feel that the pain is just to great to bear, and again I am in a search for another M3.
: But since my budget is somewhat limited, I have focused my search to an E30 M3.
: Realizing that this is such a hard task, last night I was finally lucky enough to even test drive one. The car is in SF Bay Area. Its a 1990 M3, red, with 96K, and the guy is asking for $12K (completely stock). He has a BMW garage, and he claims that he bought it, from a wholesaler.
: From what I was able to see ( it was after 7pm) the exterior/ interior was OK. I believe that the car was freshly painted ( he denied that). Moreover the car paint was different from the spoiler color -more like a pink-red?!! He claimed that he just did a tune up. The car ran OK. I mean this is the first E30 M3 I am driving, so the usual "kick" from my previous M3 was not there, but it was strong. While test driving it, I accidentally turn the windshield wipers on, and then I could not stop them at all. Even when I turned the engine off, and turned back on, they were still running???
: The guy said that he did not have ANY receipts from previous services or anything. When I told him that I would like to take it to my local dealer for inspection, he told me that he would not do it since it was too far away (30 miles)!!
: What do you guys think? Is it worth pursuing?
: Please let me know.

The red paint will fade at different rates on the metal/plastic panels... but run and don't look back if he objects to a pre-purchase inspection.
