recalibrating a steering wheel (archive)

I have to turn the wheel about 3 inches to the left to make the car go straight or else it seems to pull to the right. I am pretty sure that it is not the alignment and the tire pressure is fine at all four corners. If indeed it is the steering wheel, how do I go about fixing it? Any help would be appreciated.
