: I just purchased a set of E36 M3 ltw wheels for my 89 M3 and I am curious as to what size tires people are using and what works best. I figured out the right side wall height and came up with a 215/40/17. I have heard of people using this size, as well as numerous others: 225/40/17, 235/40/17, 215/45/17. What is the "right" set up to maintain overall diameter and not have a horrible ride? Will the type or brand of tire make a difference in size? I am leaning towards Yokahamma AVS or 520. thank you.

I currently running 215-40's on 17x8 wheels and had no problem. I went with this set-up because I still have the same tire height as stock, which is an imporant factor. In addition to this set-up I have the Eibach Road Race springs w/ Bilsteins sport shocks, and still have a comfortable ride.
