: ...and guess what? the guy sold it to someone else who came up from London late last night!
: It was a diamond black very standard M3 1989 but with a genuine (as far as I could see!)29,000 miles on the clock. It was in absolutely mint condition (truly!).
: I went all the way down to Southport on Saturday and agreed to give him the asking price of ten grand (he wouldn't come down a penny). I offered to give him a deposit with the rest on collection tomorrow night. He wouldn't take it and said some 'motoring journalist'was also trying to get time to come up and see it during the week.
: I spent a lot of time and effort getting the money sorted out quickly with the bank (who were most helpful)and what does the f**ker do? - leaves a message on my answer phone this morning after 9 O'Clock telling me he sold the car last night! Well I suppose I hadn't quite booked my train ticket to go there yet ..so that was good!
: You know what? (I know it's sour grapes) but I hope the car f**cks up big time - unfortunately I don't think there's any chance it will!
: Seeing this car and missing it by less than 48 hrs after agreeing to buy it has kind of put me off looking for a while now.
: How are you enjoy your car?
I know the feeling. I arranged to look at an M3, and towed a trailer 250 miles to pick it up. When I was 1/2 hour away I called the seller to clarify directions. The a&%hole sold the car an hour earlier. "I left a message on your machine"...2 hours after I left for the 3 hour trip.
