: My car makes the clank sound when I turn it off but when it warms up it idles too high...like at 1250rpm....when it is cold it idles fine

One of the many things that was fixed on my car this weekend was the idle. at times it would go as low as 500rpm, now it is at 1000rpm and seems to run fine, however this is the first day that I have driven it this week, well see what happens. My mechanic said that when starting the motor, you should let it idle for about a minute to let the computer organize itself, don't press the throttle or anything. this is simmilar to VW how you have to wait until the "check engine" light goes out to start the car. he said the worst thing to do was to start it cold and rev the motor.
