It's all about how Honda tuned the engine and the valve timing. The S2000's VTEC doesn't even kick in until 6000 R's!! I test drove one (one of the hardest times trying to get into the car) and booted it from about 2000 R's w/ the clutch out. It took quite some time to get going - but as soon as it hit 6000 RPM's, it took on a new meaning of frenzy - it literally screamed up to about 9000 R's!! If you drive this car without seeing 6000 RPM's, you might as well drive a regular Civic or something. Well, that's why I bought a 540i/6 - Torque.
