I too have a MOMO - Race Airleather - and screwed the little set screws so tights as to produce 3 conical shaped gouges on the shift rod. Mine hasn't worked loose yet, but I did apply a very small amount of Loctite to the set screws. I also used the little rubber/plasitic insert that came along with the shift knob. I'm using the UUC EVO street short shifter on my '97 540i/6 and its been perfect. If you don't have the inserts for the shift rod, you can use a little electrical tape to take up the slack between the rod and inside of the shift knob. Make it tight, bang on the shift knob, set the screws in place and you should be set forever.
