That's where I tend to disagree, somewhat. It seems to me people who leave their car parked and only drive it occasionally are the ones with problems. I drive mine daily and if anything is wrong I can detect it immediately. So far mine has been very reliable (knock on wood) but I do work on it quite a bit, because I enjoy it not cuz I have to.

I agree though, keeping the car in good mechanical shape requires quite a bit of money since part costs have the M3 factor, multiply everything for a regular E30 times three sometimes five and even ten (ie motor mounts).
