Here's my two cents worth. I just sold my 1993 325is and bought a 1988 M3 (alpine white). My wife thought I was nuts. She did not understand why I would want an older car. The M3 has 130,000 kilometers (approximately 78,000 miles)and it is my daily driver (15 miles to work each way, which includes a short stint on the freeway). Although my 325is was more refined and quicker in traffic, it will NEVER give me the thrills my M3 has provided. The first time I took the "S" curves (with speed) I was hooked. In fact, after riding in the car, my wife is also very impressed with its handling. I realize the maintenance will be somewhat higher, but I have set aside $100.00 a month in the hopes it will cover the cost. I will let you know in a year how I did on my budgeting.
