: I need a new O2 sensor but I am going to remove the cat converter and install a straight pipe. Do I still have to install a new O2 sensor once I get the straight pipe or will it be pointless

I have a bone stock 89' as well as a 88 with exhaust cam gear, Dinan chip, and no cat. This car is faster than the stock car. I noticed gains with each mod done seperatly. The 89 (stock) pulls increasingly right up to redline, while the modified car has better low end, but seems to level off. I hate the nose of no cat.
