the oil consumption in these cars is very dependant on how hard you drive them,constantly pushed over 4000 rpm to redline the usage will go up.my 88 (with 96,000 miles)will use a quart between oil changes at 4000 mile intervals of daily driving.driven hard at the track it will use a quart in two days as most racecar motors will.mostly it has to do with piston speed and the physical ability of the oil control rings on the piston to do their job.
