That kind of what I was looking for. If I had people replying with (It's a great car, trouble free and it doesn't eat at my pocket book) But it sounds like it needs to be taken care of and when it needs maintenance it sounds like it could be pricey.

: I personally own a '99 m3. However, My sister is looking to buy her first car and was wondering if there were any tips in what to look for. For example. Had I know about OBDI and OBDII I would have bought a used '95. ANYWAYS.

: In regards the older M3's
: Auto VS> Manual? Anything to worry about besides performance?

: Particular year that's better than an another? Reliability, upgrade availability, performance?

: Any well known expensive maintenance items? I know brakes and a clutch on my car are VERY expensive. Is as bad or worse on this older M3?

: Recommended first time out mods? Exhaust? CAI? Chip? ???

: Basically, I'm looking to buy a used e30 m3 and want to know what should I look out for.
