You have to be ready to drop large sums at the drop of a hat. If you have other cars, you might be OK but if you're selling the other ones and keeping an M3 as a daily car... then I'd say pass on it.
A 10-12 year old car as you can imagine is not as reliable as you would like it to be. Mine has been flawless but I constantly replace parts even before it needs them, coolant hoses are all new, mounts everywhere, vaccum hoses, fuel hoses, all filters, all fluids, new dampers, bushings, gaskets, sensors... small items add up to a whole lot of $$$ especially when the parts are engine related. With this engine you pay up to 10 times the price of regular E30 parts, on average I would say it is closer to 3 times as much. Cheap car to get into, very expensive to maintain properly.
