: Darren (probably asking a dumb question)
: Glad you enjoyed yourself. Better to be slow first time than in the tyre wall!!!!
: Did u see much action when you werent on the track? There was one black M3 that was actually going on the grass slightly each time he went round the corner that was near the pits - he hehe. He was pushing pretty hard and I think later on the same guy snaked around the same bend a couple of times - loosing both the front and rear a few times going round it but not spinning!
: : : Anyone here attend the BMW car club track day at Castle Coombe last week?
: : : I was travelling past that way before going on holiday for a week, and dropped in to the event for a good few hours. I didn`t take to the track which was partly due to my late arrival, and not being a car club member so would of had to pay more(not much though) AND my rear pads needed replacing soon.
: : : Anyway it was good looking round the cars parked up too. Got chatting to two M3 owner dudes - one had a 1988 Evo2 with about 17,000 km on it - WOW, I thought my 40k km was low.
: : : There were loads of e30 M3`s on the track and there were some quick guys out there. A lemon yellow M3 was holding off a e36 M3 quite easily - the e36 couldn`t get closer than about 5 car lengths each time they passed by me. Also some good race prepped e30 325`s there - two were very impressive. A few e28 M5`s, and yes a great little Z3 M Roadster - that was very impressive too.
: : : Also, if the owner of the white M3 who passed a black one(me) on the M4 towards Bristol is reading - "hello". Yes, I did notice you but not until you had gone past 8-) - had my music a bit loud.

: : I was also at the castle coombe day, hope you enjoyed it!
: : I took to the track for the first time ever saturday morning and was extremely slow on my first run (and not much faster in the afternoon)
: : still enjoyed it though & despite having tarox 40 groove front discs & pagid fast road pads , I suffered total brake fade after 5 laps.
: : Still a great day, i've never seen so many e30 m3's!
the brake fade does disappear once the brakes have fully cooled. The track does highlight any potential shortcomings in the car though, such as brakes, suspension, bushes etc.
i did find that i reach my limit long before the car does, (i think its also a case of learning the track). some of the guys out there were real scary in how hard they could push their cars.
can't wait for the next one!
