: The paint is peeling off the valve cover of my 88 ///M3(it looks tacky). I would like to remove it to respray the paint & make it look new again... Anything to look out for when removing the valve cover? Should it even be taken off...? (I will pick up a new valve cover gasket to replace when putting it back on....

: Thanks for the help....

No tricks, just remove all the acorn nuts and it comes off easily. Besides a valve cover gasket, there are two more gaskets around the spark plug holes that also should be replaced, ask your friendly parts supplier for them. When putting it back, the torque on the acorn nuts is low, something like 11 ft-lbs or something like that. I made mine guttenteit with just a socket wrench since my torque wrench isn't very accurate at low settings. :-)
