This is a troublesome part on M3`s apparently. I had my temp switch replaced a while back. When the engine got hot afterwards I heard the fan come on then go off again when the engine cooled. Since then it has never worked again!!!! But, the PO must of rigged up the spare dashboard switch to the fan so it acts as a manual overide allowing me to switch the fan on manually.

I`ll eventually get round to taking it back to the dealers to get it fixed again at some point so it works automatically.
Anyway, there should be 3 wires going into the switch I believe and the whole switch itself plugged into the radiator.

I`m not expert, but thats what I picked up when I watched a technician replace the switch i mine.

: Three years ago I bought an '88 M3. The thermo switch on the thermostat is in place, however whatever plugs into it is missing. What is the part called that plugs into the thermo switch and where does it go from there. My aux fan comes on when the A/C is on but not when the engine gets hot which is a problem now that the temperatures in FL are now reaching 100 degrees F.

: Thanks,
: Mark
