ok i am not sure about the color of hte smoke. i am kinda thinking it is white. and i whink hte stearing rack is needed to be rebuilt bue to hte leakage from the actual rack not the resovour. what should i check for as far as the oil is concerened? it is kinda odd that it only smokes when i am hard accelateing at hight revs. so htat might mean i am runnig rich? shit i dont know.. HELP !!!!!!!! PLZ.

Check the oil by looking at the dipstick. Look to see if it is milky looking, also smell it. If it smells sweet like coolant then it's your head gasket. Wouldn't have hurt to look at the coolant level and see if it is going down. Since your appt is on Monday well then have a mechanic diagnose it.

On the steering rack, keep in mind that an E36 M3 rack from www.zionsvilleautosport.com is about $500 for a used unit. Just remember that when they quote you on how much to rebuild your rack. Plus you'll end up with a quicker steering ratio. :-)
