if he put in a 325 flywheel then the clutch would mount right to that. Thanks for the help i appreciate it

i personally have no experience with doing that (the M3 flywheel has some pins on the backside that the 325 does not to run the Motronics)your M3 would not run without these. they both use the same 8 bolt pattern and have the same machining spec's(except for dual mass flywheels). so i have no idea why they would do that.the flywheel is independantly balanced so would not affect motor balancing but they would have to install the extra pins in exactly the right place to run the Motronic's (a lot of work for no reason)
i think the clutch bolt pattern is the same on both flywheels so yes they will cross over both way's exceept like i said the M3 clutch disk is thicker and the pressure plate has heavy duty spring in it (racing clutch), part of the reason the pedal is so hard! and of course three times the price(Mx3)!!!!

just looked at factory manual for spec's
E30 325 W/ b25 or b27 motor
clutch disk (type)MF228K
color code . none
drive plate (type) 228WTD
outside dia.228mm(8.976 in)

e30 M3 W/ S-14 motor
clutch disk (type)MF228
color code (paint dot) green
drive plate(type) 228
outside dia.228 mm (8.976in)

M5 or M6 with S-38 motor
clutch disk (type) MF240
color code (paint dot)yellow
drive plate (type)240TD
outside dia.240mm

so disk's are the same outside dia. in M3 and 325(but as you can see are differnt part #'s)
dont have spec's for thickness(just a min on all of 7.5mm)
