does the height change at all. I really don't care if it shortens the throw, it's short enough for me already. I really want to shorten the height of the shifter.

I did this in my other E30's by simply cutting off 1/2 the shift lever, but you can't do that in the M3.

anyways, since your buddy installed one, see if it is shorter.
also, did he use the M coupe shifter, or just a Z3 shifter. My friends dad has an M coupe, and the shift nob is REALLY small. maybe this might be a better solution.
