...hot camshaft and BIG throttle bodies (Read: lots of fuel/air mixture entering the engine at just the right time). BMW actually got these big numbers even with de-stroked 2.0 Liter normally aspirated engines for certain race classes so it's not just the displacement. Now, if you want to add a race turbo, recall that Nelson Piquet's Formula One Brabham was hitting 1300 HP with fundementally our same E30 M3 S14 engine before going off the dyno scale. I heard that BMW's racing E30 M3 was putting out 370hp w/ no forced induction. (I know it was with the 2.5 liter but still...) How'd they do it?



i think th 2 litre youre talking about was used in the u.s. touring car championship in the early-mid '90's the engine had to be rebuilt after every race because the valves would bang out the seats in the head( i might be wrong? )
