How low do I go? (archive)

What's a good drop for looks and performance? I used to drive an e28 535i and I dropped it 1.75" w/H&R/bilstein sports. This car was high to start with so a 1.75 drop was no biggie.. just enough to get rid of the gap.

From what I hear, people are not happy with the .75 front and .5 rear that HR's drop our cars...

Anyone have pick with this setup? Does going lower have any handling advantages? Does going lower really mess up street driveablity? I like the lowered look, but I don't want to be taking speed bumps at 90degree angles, like i see so many imports do...

Ok, age old suspension question. Yes, I've read all the archives, and yes I know that its a matter of preference and opinion. But I really want to hear opinions on ride hight.

Thanks!
