I, personally ,like the tires tucked in the fenders look...ala BTCC. It may not be good for handling but if you don't track your M3 who cares. My M3 is not that low. I would need GC coilovers but they are hell to install. I have Intrax springs with a 2" drop....I have no wheel gap but the tires are not under the fender. I used to have Eibach Race springs but they only lowered the car 1" and there was still a gap in the front. I really didn't notice the difference between the two since I only drive my M on the street.

Good Luck

I would get the ground control. they have adjustable front suspension. never installed them, so I don't know how hard it is. people all the time ask if my car is lowered (I don't think it is :) I would like to lower it more, but can't afford to do both springs and shocks. I think the intrax sound pretty good with a 2" drop

I have also heard that our oil pan sits low in the engine bay, and that if you lower it to much, you can crack the oil pan from who knows what, It's not good though, and expensive.

If you do lower the car, make sure you post pics so we can see how good you car looks!
