My M3 shoots flames, or backfires, whichever you want to call it. It does it when shifting at high RPMs, or it will also do it at low RPMs blipping the throtle. Cleaning the rear bumper is a whole lot of fun with a car that does this. The car is probably running a little rich (but my gas mileage would indicate otherwise) I feel like I'm missing a little power, but it could also be that I've just gotten used to the car. There is a little bit of black stuff that doesn't look so nice, and the smell of gas inside the intake plenum due to the car doing this, but nothing that will hurt the engine I'm sure. My car has no cats etc etc... for those of you that don't know my car please visit BMW Classics Ezine at:

and check out the article Imfamous M (under contents) for the full run down of everything that has been done to the car

Brian 88 M3: Dina badge is off, looking to get the full Dinan badge :-)

I would imagine removing the cat from the exhaust would cause her to spit flames when you shift.I want mine to do this!can any one recomend an exhaust that will do this? Thanks in advance-I love my bmw
