Hi there,

I was wondering if I have to remove the drive shaft in order to replace the shift lever?

Thanks

Al

I also replaced the shift lever with an E36 M3 unit. Costs only about $40 from the dealership and not only does it shorten the shifts but since the part is new it improves some of the shifter slop associated with our very old shift levers (the bushing where the lever attaches to the shifter fork/link).
