While driving home the other day I heard a noisenoise coming from near the back wheels. I thought it was a punchure so got out and had a look. No punture. Got back in the car and select first but the car would not move, the rev counter would go up but the car woulld not. I had a better look under tyhe car and it seemed that the bit that connected to the differential on the left was hanging - some people tell me this is called the half shaft.
Anyway the Garage where I purchased the car told me it was the diff casing that had cracked ( I dont know if this is true and that there just saying this cos it sounds better).

I got my car back yesterday and it does not seem right. When I reverse or lift up the clutch I can hear a rubbing, thumping noise from the area where the diff is. Also it sounds as if something is rubbing up against near the rear arches. It happens only when in first or second gear and the clutch is on its way up.

Anybody have any idea on what it might be????? Could it be the bearing in the diff?

Any help would be deeply appreciated
