The procedure is not difficult, but it's not exactly a walk in the park either. Bentley's and Koala Motorsports CD are good things to have to help you. I'll outline what I did.
Remove shift knob.
Remove shift boot.
Drop the exhaust.
Drop the driveshaft.
Drop the heat shield.
Remove the clips holding the shift lever to the shift linkage. Pull the lever from the linkage.
Remove the rear shift carrier mount.
Remove the two front carrier bolts.
Expand the ring around the knuckle.
Pull the pin holding the knuckle on.
Remove the knuckle. Clean out the sludge. Put new bushing in.
Assembly is the reverse of removal.
Piece of cake! Actually, it took me about 2 1/2 hours to do it but I could probably do it in an hour or so now. One thing to remember is that the to exhaust bolt goes into a nut welded to the flange. Remove it from the rear using a 2 foot long extension.
Also, since you have to drop the guibo, inspect it for cracks and have a new one ready in case you want to replace it.
