Married...
I have had an M for the past 5 years and have run it throughout the midwest on and off the track. It has been my daily driver as well. My wife and I beat the snot out of it every weekend and have had NO failures which have left me stranded or carless 4 a trakc event. In the snow w/Blizaks no problem, in the rain OK subject to tyres. Knowing what the car is and not asking it to do something it wasn't designed for helps. Parts aren't expensive when compared to comparable cars/marques even if you don't work on it yourself. CCA membership discounts help a great deal.
1) What should I be concerned about as far as reliability goes? Are repairs frequent? Expensive? Both?
Buy a good car and you should have no problems...(under 100k if U can find one). I just bought another with less than 35 K on it.

2) Is this car liveable from day-to-day, or is it only a weekend car? No BMW is meant 2 b parked! Don't be a Garagemahallic wienie. Polish it when you can, but drive it drive it drive it.
