Remove the locking plate and use a thin walled 30mm socket. Use a large set of channel locks to hold the shaft from moving (water pump pliers). You do not need to re-install the locking plate(per Koala CD)... just use locktight when reassembling

I need to replace the output shaft seal at the rear of the transmission. I have removed the exhaust, shields and finally got the bolts loose holding the guibo to the driveshaft (removed guibo, center bearing and front part of the drive shaft). Now I'm having trouble removing the output flange, there is a large nut apprx. 30mm (?) that requires a deep, thin walled socket (?) I'm wondering if there is a special tool for this or what because I couldn't get anything to fit. I tried using a 30mm axle socket but the walls were too thick. Also there is a locking plate, how is that removed without damaging it, or is that possible? Thanks for any help, Doug...
