Recently the car began giving me start up problems, the engine turns over nicely but immediately stalls. It will die out when first started regularly. Yesterday I attempted to start the car and the hard starting again occurred but this time car was smoking and would barely run. (After getting to operating temperature and without Air Cond. Engaged the car runs fine. A 325es has little guts anyway so performance is not an issue.
This AM I removed the Spark Plugs cleaned and regapped them and evaluated to see if oil fouling was present (289,000 would seem to indicated worn rings, valves, pistons). Compression was checked about 6 months ago and had little deviation from new settings. No Oil Fouling was present but the plugs with coated with blow away carbon. I cleaned and regapped and little improvement. I then jiggled the Motronic Connection and the car started and ran fine!
What are the things in the Motronic that simply fooling with the connection could cause?
Is there something I am overlooking and what is the cost of replacing the Motronic. Are the Motronic, 1.0 and 1.1 compatible, interchangeable?
