One of my friends has developed a cold airbox assembly for his E30 M3. When dyno tested it gained 3 to 4hp when compared to a Evo box. I'm trying to convince him that he should start producing these. Would anyone out there be interested?
What does it consist of? I have also made my own intake but haven't dyno'd. I wouldn't market my custom intake because it is crude but it does get the job done. I developed it because I didn't like where the Evo airbox was getting it's air from.
Cone filter, fitted aluminum seperation plate, aluminum bracket for meter, etc. This is a fairly clean install that can be reversed in 20min. All pieces are trimmed in BMW trim pieces, no cutting. This person is qualified IMHO to put together a unit worthy of the marquis. He's shown me this talent with some pretty amazing restorations on 2002's, an Isetta, and a national awarded 3.0cs. As far as where the intake of air is from? thru the core support to the left of the radiator. As far as his talents as a tuner?
He has the printouts of the dyno report. Im not trying to *sell* this however I too have been looking for an answer of a isolated intake and am just a bit excited with this..
